William Halpenny and Ester Giltrap were the progenitors of what we call Family A. They were from the village of Coolkenno, County Wicklow, Ireland. Coolkenno is about 7km east of Tullow, County Carlow, Ireland. They moved to Coolkenno sometime around 1775 to 1780. William was a farmer. He supposedly died in 1815. I have not been able to verify that or where he was buried. I think that he may have been taken back to his home, in Count Louth, Meath, Westmeath, Monahan, or Armagh. Esther moved to Boyd's Settlement, Lanark Count, Ontario, Canada with the family around 1830. On her grave in Boyd's Settlement Cemetery it shows that she was born in 1772 and died March 14, 1841.
